Yes, I might be a bit late for this shit, and I spent like a hr to understand what was going on here.

So for those of you don’t know , There is a fan made clip features bunch of touhou characters called “Bad apple!!” ( yes the song from Alst’s album EXSERENS) . This clip was originally uploaded on nicovid, then on youtube. It was the biggest hit of January. it accumulated over 600k views from less than a month.

After the original clip uploaded on nicovid, another guy used a really old school filming technique -- Stop motion animation (コマ撮り) and reproduced the clip with over 6000 stopping frames. So the guy just made the stop motion animation clip as an experiment or like a practice for himself since he is currently learning this technique. Here is the clip he reproduced:

There were nothing wrong with the clips themselves until CNN reported them in a program called “Best of the web”. you can find a specific part of that program on youtube as below:

The report  is inaccurate. Two morons on CNN were trying to explain that, the originally video was made by stop motion animation, which was captured picture by picture. But in fact, the original one was created by shadow stylized CGs, and the old school one just an experiment came after the original. So guy on CNN reversed the order of existence of these two clips.

So now on nicovido encyclopedia , you can find an satirize entry called “This is how they made it” , a quote directly from that news clip, just to laugh at CNN’s misunderstanding on how exactly these two clips were related. Further more, a new catchword just created by Japanese, called “全米が釣られた”, which literally translates to ” Outsmarted the whole America”

Beside the inaccuracy, the female reporter in that CNN clip was acting like a bitch. She said that Bad Apple clip was “creeping me out”.  Here is where the flame starts, touhou nerds all went antsy because reporters from a mainstream media threw crap on one of their masterpiece. So now you can see how many dis-CNN comments were generated under that clip from touhou fan all over the world, it just unstoppable.

On another side, touhou fans in Japan was quite encouraged first they saw the clip on CNN, cuz they thought it might be the first step for touhou to get well-known over the world. But after someone translated the whole clip for them, guys in Japan went berserk and stood against CNN as well. Right now, there are thousands of Japanese guys paying close attention to the public opinion regarding the CNN report. In addition, there is a guy who activity collecting all the comments from youtube, translate and upload them to nicovid in Japanese. you can find two examples :

Both of them has been viewed over 6000 times over last two days.

SO CNN, next time, find someone who is fluent in Japanese and read the youtube video description carefully, also fire those two imbeciles, or simply let them have a vacation in Japan, so they get beat up brutally and none will never ever recognize them when next time u put them in your channel.
